We dance around in a ring and suppose.
But the secret sits in the middle and knows.
We dance around in a ring and suppose.
But the secret sits in the middle and knows.
Penetrating so many secrets, we cease to believe in the unknowable.
But there it sits nevertheless, calmly licking its chops.
The most important thing we can know about a man is what he takes for granted
and the most elemental and important facts about a society are those that are seldom debated and generally regarded as settled.
As soon as man does not take his existence for granted, but beholds is as something unfathomably mysterious,
thought begins.
So, as you would imagine, I grew up exuberant in body but with a nervy, craving mind. It was wanting something more, something tangible. It sought for reality intensely, always as if it were not there... But you see at once what I do, I climb.
The decisive question for man is:
Is he related to something infinite or not?
That is the telling question of his life.
Only if we know that the thing which truly matters is the infinite can we avoid fixing our interests upon futilities, and upon all kinds of goals which are not of real importance...If we understand and feel that here in this life we already have a link with the infinite, desires and attitudes change.
In the final analysis, we count for something only because of the essential we embody, and if we do not embody that, life is wasted.
In our relationships to other men, too, the crucial question is whether an element of boundlessness is expressed in the relationship.
If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you.
If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.
There is a principle which is a bar against all information,
which is proof against all arguments
and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance.
That principle is contempt prior to investigation.
Thou art not that body: thou art this spiritual Eye.
Become vision itself.
